# Surge Dashboard Cannot Open on macOS 27.2

This article explains why Surge Dashboard cannot open on macOS 27.2 and how to resolve the issue.

## Overview

On macOS 27.2, Surge Dashboard in versions of Surge Mac earlier than 6.10.0 quits immediately after opening. This issue only affects Dashboard. The main Surge application and all networking features continue to work normally.

## Cause

This issue is caused by a bug in macOS 27.2 and is not specific to Surge. Other applications that use system UI components in the same way are also affected. (Apple Feedback Report FB25184160)

We reported this issue to Apple, and Apple has confirmed it and completed a fix. However, due to the system release schedule, the fix will be included in the next macOS release (27.3 or 27.2.1).

In the meantime, Surge Mac 6.10.0 includes a workaround for this issue.

## How to Resolve the Issue

### If Your Maintenance Update Subscription Is Active

Update Surge to version 6.10.0 or later. You can do this by choosing “Check for Updates…” from the Surge menu.

### If Your Maintenance Update Subscription Has Expired

Since this issue is caused by a system bug, we provide Surge Dashboard Patcher for users whose maintenance update subscription has expired. This tool only replaces the Dashboard bundled with Surge. It does not modify the main Surge application or its configuration.

Download: <https://dl.nssurge.com/mac/Surge-Dashboard-Patcher-27.2.zip>

1. Download and unzip the tool, then open Surge Dashboard Patcher.
2. Confirm the Surge version shown in the window, then click “Repair”. If Dashboard is running, it will be closed automatically.
3. If prompted for a password, enter your macOS login password.
4. Once the repair is complete, you can open Dashboard from the Surge menu as usual.

* The tool automatically backs up the original Dashboard before repairing it. To restore it, open the tool again and click “Restore Original”.
* This tool only supports Surge Mac 6, and Surge must be in the Applications folder.
* If you see a message that macOS has blocked changes to Surge, go to System Settings › Privacy & Security › App Management, allow Surge Dashboard Patcher, and try again.

Alternatively, you can simply wait for the next macOS update, which will resolve the issue.
